[Revisited] Salix mataudana IDed this time by emerging catkins
[Revisited] Cultivar of Pyrus calleryana IDed by small white flowers in clusters and tall height (over 20ft). Also, I IDed this tree as a callery pear in the winter using the buds, which made things much easier.
Pyrus Calleryana IDed by height (over 20ft), bark, and buds. I revisited this tree in the spring and discovered it is a cultivar of Pyrus calleryana known as a Cleveland Pear.
Amelanchier arborea IDed by bark and buds with emerging white flowers
Lindera benzoin IDed by flower and bark, smelling like allspice and sassafras and thusly.
Quercus palustris IDed by dinstict leaves with U-shaped sinuses.
Pyrus calleryana IDed by buds (beginning to flower!) and grooved bark. Quercus palustris IDed by leaves.
Taxodium distichum IDed by distinct grape-like flowers
Cercis canadensis IDed by not knowing what else it could be… Buds too high to be useful. Will probably revisit in the spring or summer!
Ulmus americana IDed by elm-like buds. The buds don’t seem to fit perfectly, though.
